Mapping the Morning Route

morning tram

Now trams and train become my close friends..they are my main transportation to the office. After we moved to Windsor, most of the time, I rely on these public transports to send my daughter to school in the morning then off to my office in Caulfield. They are very convenience and reliable. As compared to Malaysian Public transport, it is like the sky and earth..opps not to belittled my beloved country yet..this is the truth. However, still the locals disagreed with me. A colleague once frowned his forehead when I complimented on the tram services..He told me that it was not that reliable..and even worst, perhaps he was comparing this to Tokyo, where there, the time is always matters.

Back to my morning journey each day..now relying on these services. From home to Aaisyah school, we take tram and from there, I continue to use the same tram service either no 5 or 64 then catch the connecting train at Malvern station. My home is at High Street, near the junction of St Kilda Road. At St Kilda road, there are numbers of tram services. Perhaps, this is the major tram line to Melbourne University/City. The tram number 3, 5, 6, 16, 64 and 67, are all in this route (St Kilda Rd). I prefer to use stop 27 (High St/St Kilda Rd).

view from the stop 33
Aaisyah's stop will be at Horby rd/Dandenong road, stop 33 at the tram line either 5 or 64. Most of the time, we will stop at stop 34..as we can cross the road without using the pedestrian bridge..Well, there is a zebra crossing with the traffic light at this stop whereby at earlier stop, we have to climb the stairs..it is good for morning exercise but it isn't when you are in rush..hahaha this is because, we always take the 8.45 tram from stop 27 and will be reaching at stop 34 by 8.57am..3 minutes before the bell rang.

One thing that I have observed here, is the strict traffic enforcement. At the school area during the school days, the speed limit is only 40km/hr and the policemen are always in the area. There are many other schools in the area, there are St Mary Primary school, 2 other secondary schools (CBC for boys and Presentation College for girls) besides Aaisyah's..no wonder, there is always a policeman/woman watching and catching the car speed..it was not unfamiliar phenomena to watch the drivers been stopped and fined due to the over speeding at this area.

Not to forget, there will always a lollipop man/lady to observe/help the children at the crossing (indeed any crossing near the school area). They are friendly and bubbly especially to the kids (will post the pic later..)...Also the road safety is taught to the school children as early as in the kinder year..it says: STOP LOOK LISTEN and THINK (I love the rhythm so much)
